This website is a playground for me to experiment with various web technologies. And I want to show the world some of my passions, like Art , Photos or programming projects .
Lately I found out about the small web, the gemini protocol and places like the 32-Bit Cafe which is a much calmer way to consume the otherwise pretty hostile web where you are constantly tracked, spammed with (targeted) ads or plain malicious actors try to gain anything from you.
In this place I can be myself, create stuff at my own pace and I can only encourage everyone to do the same.
Let me introduce myself, I'm holloway. In my teen years I fell in love with programming. It started with Turbo Pascal in school and I made my first private experiences with BlitzBasic 3D. During my last years in school I did a deep dive into web development, which I turned into a job for nearly 20 years.
Another big field in my life is music. I got the chance to start playing music when I was 10, which I am still very grateful for. During the years I played in different bands and orchestras.
As you might have noticed on my website I also love photography. I have a Canon EOS 250D for digital photos, but I am super grateful that I inherited a Leica R-E from my granddad for analog photos.
Other than that I enjoy various other hobbies which involve being creative, like drawing or calligraphy.
This website is built in PHP with the Symfony framework and various libraries to not reinvent the wheel for everything, although I also like to implement stuff myself and learn how it works internally. For stylesheets I love to use Tailwind CSS . My content management behind a login is created with Vue.js . Instead of databases I want this website to make use of the filesystem whenever possible. There is also no need for any tracking, cookies or even javascript to view my website. If you're curious you can have a peek at my code .
