Streak numbers in apps

I've used habit trackers or apps with streaks and one problem emerged for me between all of them. When a number is visible how many consecutive days I successfully completed a task it quickly became a bad relationship, because I forced myself to do it on days where the energy is low. It's especially bad if the app enforces you to keep the streak going. What is left is an unpleasant feeling connected to the task to only keep the streak going. That emotional baggage builds up to the point where I don't wanna do it at all anymore. The habit tracker was a tool to get me motivated and lower the barrier for me to do the task, in the end the opposite happened. It's okay to have days where the energy is low and I can't do a specific task, the next day will be better.

I still love tracking my habits and tasks and look at how much I finished in the past, which is a motivator for the future. What I found out though, consecutive days numbers are no motivator for me.
